Girls to Women Mentoring Hawai'i offers meaningful connection and skills for adolescents that build empowerment, resilience, self-esteem, and healthy relationships. We provide this through circles facilitated by trained adult mentors in schools, after-school programs, and communities in Hawai'i.
THE GIRLS CIRCLE MODEL from One Circle Foundation is a structured support group for girls and youth who identify with female development from 9-18 years, integrates relational theory, resiliency practices, and skills training in a specific format designed to increase positive connection, personal and collective strengths, and competence in girls. It is designed to counteract social and interpersonal forces that impede growth and development by promoting an emotionally safe setting and structure within which girls can develop caring relationships and use authentic voices.
The findings of a 2015 evaluation make Girls Circle the FIRST gender-responsive program in the country to demonstrate effectiveness in reducing delinquency for girls (Listed on the Office of Justice Programs National Criminal Justice Reference Service and on the previously available SAMHSA National Registry of Evidence-based Programs).
